Car offered at:
www.ddclassics.com/car-sales/Jaguar--SS-3.5-Litre-Roadster/8841.htm
Sellers description:
1936
Colour Gunmetal
Transmission Manual
An exacting recreation of the renowned SS100
As with the prototype SS 90, this roadster is built using an original SS1 chassis, shortened to the correct length
Built over a period of 5 years using correct components, it offers the same driving experience for a fraction of the cost!
The Jaguar SS sports car family, from the introduction of the SS1 in 1931 through to the last SS100 in 1939, transformed the automobiles of William Llyons from custom built, limited production specials to world class sports cars. They rapidly acquired a reputation not just as fabulous road cars, but through victories in major international rallies, also as highly competitive. From setting records at Shelsley Walsh to winning the 'Rallye des Alpes', the SS100 become one of the most internationally recognised British sports cars of all time.
Built on a genuine SS1 chassis, this remarkable all aluminium bodied roadster is an outstanding recreation, and is virtually impossible to distinguish from its original brethren. Painstakingly built over a period of 5 years, it is correct in almost every detail, boasting many original components including a 3.5 Litre overhead camshaft engine, gearbox, suspension, outer-laced wheels with spinners, instruments, steering wheel, QK headlights and the delightful 'owls eye' tail lights.
Having completed less than 700 miles since completion and presented in Gunmetal Grey with Claret Red leather interior, this lovely sports car represents an opportunity to enjoy the pre-war motoring experience of an SS100 for considerably less than an original example.
Price £149,950
