Car to be at auction 7/12
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 154 - 1963 Jaguar SS Tourer
    Estimate: £90,000 - £110,000
    Registration Number: 855 YUC
    Chassis Number: 19076

Originally supplied to Henlys on the 26th November 1936 and first registered to a Miss E.N Carr, this graceful SS Tourer is resplendent in burgundy with black running boards, complementing a red hide interior featuring charming period touches such as 'sun burst' door panels and blue on silver period dials and to keep the elements at bay a black hood can be deployed to protect the occupants.

The car is supplied with a V5 document, current MoT certificate valid until March next year and Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout having undergone a restoration in the 1990s.

With their impeccable pedigree and background it is easy to see why these cars remain amongst the most sought after and collectible British sports cars from the inter-war period and of all the SS Tourer's currently available, chassis 19076 must rank as one of the best.

An exquisite example of Sir William Lyons' early production model and a car which would grace any collection of historic Jaguars

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
