#39089 was dispatched from the factory November 18, 1938 to Henlys and sold to W H Preston via Messrs Arthur Bray. Nothing further of the car's history is known until 1971, when a listing in the SSIOO register of the Classic Jaguar Association recorded the owner as Mark Gibbons of Massachusetts, USA. In 1979 Louis Sciliano of Illinois was listed as the owner. The car turned up in Germany next, and in June 1980 was advertised for sale in Thoroughbred and Classic Cars, by Klaus Werner of Klassische Automobile GmbH near Düsseldorf. It was re-advertised in Thoroughbred and Classic Cars in April 1981. Barry Morgan, who had owned alloy XK120 #660009 in New Zealand, purchased the SSIOO and freighted it, by air, to Sydney. Morgan advertised the car for sale for $60,000 and Ian Cummins NSW became the next owner, after a deal whereby Morgan ended up with Cummins' XK150 #S82459. In May 1983 the car was put to auction at Gilltraps, on Queensland's Gold Coast. Noel Roscrow from Adelaide South Australia purchased it and carried out a superb restoration. Noel died in 2011 and the car passed to his wife Ali Roscrow. As at August 2021 the car is with Ali at her home on Hindmarsh Island South Australia.
