Car to be at auction 7/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 131 - 1937 Jaguar SS100 2 ½ Litre - Original Engine
131 - 1937 Jaguar SS100 2 ½ Litre - Original Engine
Estimate: £175,000 - £220,000
Registration Number: UK Registered
Chassis Number: 18084
The SS100 on offer today was delivered new in April 1937 to E. A. Bathgate through Henley's Limited of Manchester. It was later exported to America where in 1985 it became part of the private collection of the late Bernard Berman of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Berman was a well known collector of fine motor cars who owned the SS100 for around twenty years, during which time it was sympathetically restored.
Now repatriated to the United Kingdom, the SS100 is in remarkable condition. The gleaming black paintwork is complemented beautifully by the burgundy leather interior and highly polished brightwork. The original Lucas QK headlights and owl's eye tail lamps finish off the unmistakable lines of probably the best known pre-war British sports car.
Especially desirable for being a matching numbers example, 18084 is still fitted with its original engine which is in fine mechanical order, providing a deeply satisfying 6-cylinder soundtrack and an abundance of performance. Complete with a brand new hood, this SS is ready to be enjoyed whatever the weather.
Supplied with UK registration, MoT certificate, Jaguar Heritage certificate and a copy of the most recent US title document, this rare and collectible pre-war Jaguar is ready to become the pride of any collection of important motor cars.
