This SS Jaguar was manufactured in November 1936 with a Standard 12HP engine and first registered as HG 5409 in April 1937 in Burnley, Lancashire to SS dealer Herbert Morris.
The first known owner was Mrs Gray of Romsey, Hampshire. Mrs Gray had the car serviced at Kibbles Garage, and when she wanted to sell it, Mr Kibble bought it and used it as his family car. When Mr Kibble's daughter Jean married Mike Childs, Mr Kibble gave the couple HG 5409 and they used it for several years.
In 1967 the car was bought by Bepi Koelliker of Milan, who was the main Jaguar dealer for Northern Italy. Bepi built a collection of early SS and Jaguar cars and HG 5409 was restored in his workshop and displayed in his showroom/ museum.
In 1969 Jaguar introduced th XJ6 at the Turin Motor Show. Three Silver XJ6 cars were on the Jaguar stand and HG 5409 was sprayed the same silver to match them and show on the stand as a feature.
In 2012 the collection was sold to classic Jaguar specialist Zwakman Motors of Alkmaar in the Netherlands. The vendor purchased the car and imported it back to the UK, commissioned her for use in the UK and re-registered her as 466 YUN. The vendor has an original HG 5409 number plate but unfortunately not the original log book, so DVLA would not let him keep the original number.
A Jaguar Heritage Certificate with chassis and engine numbers comes with the vehicle.
Guide Price: £34,000 to £40,000
